Calorimetry

I'd seen a zillion people make the calorimetry and it looks so cute on them! On me? Not so much.

I reduced the number of cast on stitches like people have recommended, but that wasn't the problem. I used some of my favorite yarn in one of my favorite colors, but that wasn't the problem either. It just wasn't... me.

However, as long as I live in the frozen tundra (aka Michigan), I'll wear this guy.

Finished Specs:
Pattern:
Calorimetry from Knitty, Free
Yarn: Malabrigo Merino Worsted, Jewel Blue, $11
Needles: Size 8 circs

Aw, I think it's cute. It could be a lot worse, trust me.
And no, no Smylie in DC. That's a co-worker/friend's boyfriend. Unfortunately, our Smylie has blacklisted me since the breakup with the boy.

Hi Amanda,

I'm sorry I haven't had a chance to drop in for a while - life has been intervening a lot lately.

Funny - when I saw the hat in knitty, I couldn't believe it - it looked just like the first thing I recall knitting when I was about 6 years old (and it was in royal blue). I used to wear it when I went ice skating to keep my ears warm. Personally I know it would look absolutely awful on me now (and probably didn't look all that cool when I was 6 or 8, but then I was still cute :-) ) On the other hand, the style is very practical for keeping ears warm and I can't say that the hats I usually knit and wear now (watch caps with doubled over bands) look so great on me either. They look much cuter in infant and preemie sizes.

How is school going? I love the sock you knit - really pretty, and I think both of the scarfs look great. I love the colors of the multidirectional scarf, and I'm sure the lucky recipient of your waiting scarf will be thrilled.

Sorry to hear you're not feeling well but glad that you got the time to do some knitting.
